The belief that all genuine education comes about through experience does not mean that all experiences are genuinely or equally educative. Attacking a belief can be the first step toward embracing it. The want of belief is a defect that ought to be concealed when it cannot be overcome.

Nothing shall warp me from the belief that every man is a lover of truth. There is no pure lie, no pure malignity in nature. The entertainment of the proposition of depravity is the last profligacy and profanation. There is no scepticism, no atheism but that. Could it be received into common belief, suicide would unpeople the planet.

Thus, everything is a belief -- including this statement.
We create beliefs to anchor our understanding of the world around us and thus, once we have formed a belief, we will tend to persevere with that belief.
